A Message for you: 2010 Now and Beyond

The year 2009 beleaguered with war, disease and crisis is gone with wind. Now at the threshold of another New Year, and as usual, people are yearning for a better and bright future. This month has been marred with many resolutions made by each and everyone of us. But most often than not we tend not to adhere to these preset objectives. This raises a question, do we often make resolutions for our own community, country, continent or even the world,? And for those who do, don't they become unachieved objectives? According to an article on People's Forum, on www.peopleforum.com, it involved 89 participants who gave out their views concerning this year's expectations and concerns. This is what they had to say:

  1. The year 2010 will see a fast economic rebound, providing me with more job offers and other opportunities in my self-improvement.

  2. Housing price will be lowered to the extent that I can afford an apartment.

  3. Education resources will be redistributed, tilting to the less developed residential areas, so my child will access the quality schooling.

  4. Health bills cease to soar and will cover more of the destitute population.

  5. Government will stage some more policies granting ordinary people the tangible favor rather than just empty or flowery words.

  6. Work time will be shortened to less than 40 hours per week, and no more working extra hours.

  7. Household income should be increased on a massive scale in order to drive up CPI.

  8. Government should shift its attention from pursuing the galloping growth of GDP to ensuring the general increase of per capita income level.

  9. A clean and fair government, and an upright and credible judicial system, are what the grassroots people expect most.

  10. To perfect the monitor system over land use, to better the management over traffic, to streamline the urban resources and, to guarantee a physically and mentally agreeable situation for people to live and work.

Word from the Founders

"It was the onset of another new year, so far we have come, but yet so much to be done. We live in serious times and mine is a serious message.

I hope we can all dig deep within ourselves, consult our consciences, ask what we can do to

help our nation overcome and survive its present troubling challenges, and act accordingly.

The Global Efforts Initiative Founders.
